What are Atom Quantum and ATQM?

What are Atom Quantum and ATQM?
Atom Quantum is an independent post-quantum Layer 1 blockchain built for digital assets and applications. Post-quantum cryptography is integrated into the network architecture from the start, while EVM compatibility allows developers to continue using Solidity and familiar Ethereum development tools.
ATQM is the native token of the Atom Quantum network and is used within its infrastructure.

02 What problem does Atom Quantum solve?
Most existing blockchains rely on elliptic-curve cryptography that could become vulnerable to sufficiently powerful quantum computers. This is particularly relevant for public blockchains because transaction data and signatures remain publicly available and can potentially be collected today for future attacks.
Atom Quantum is designed around post-quantum cryptographic primitives from the beginning rather than attempting to retrofit them onto an existing architecture later.

03 Why prepare for quantum threats now?
Migrating an existing blockchain to post-quantum cryptography can require significant changes to addresses, signatures, consensus mechanisms, and supporting infrastructure.
Atom Quantum takes a different approach by building the network around post-quantum cryptography from genesis.

04 What post-quantum technologies does Atom Quantum use?
The architecture uses different cryptographic mechanisms across different protocol layers, including:
– ML-DSA-65 as the default signature scheme
– FN-DSA-512 for compact signatures
– ML-KEM-768 for key exchange
– AES-GCM for transport protection
– HotStuff for consensus and finality
Transaction authentication uses ML-DSA/FN-DSA instead of ECDSA, while validator consensus signatures use ML-DSA without BLS aggregation.

05 Is Atom Quantum part of Ethereum?
No. Atom Quantum is an independent Layer 1 blockchain.
However, it is EVM-compatible. Solidity smart contracts and familiar Ethereum development tools can be used on Atom Quantum, while the underlying signing and cryptographic layer is replaced with post-quantum technology.

06 Who is Atom Quantum for?
Atom Quantum is being developed as infrastructure for users, developers, validators, and applications that require an EVM-compatible environment built around post-quantum cryptography.
Developers can continue using Solidity contracts and familiar tooling while adapting their applications to the Atom Quantum network.

07 Is the Atom Quantum network live?
Yes, the network is currently operating in a testing environment. The public Atom Quantum Explorer displays blocks, transactions, addresses, and other network activity.
This should not be confused with the full launch of every mainnet component. Testnet hardening, validator onboarding, and additional infrastructure remain part of the roadmap.

08 Can I use a regular Ethereum wallet?
EVM compatibility alone is not sufficient to provide full support for Atom Quantum’s post-quantum signing layer.
Dedicated wallet infrastructure supporting PQ signatures is being developed. The roadmap includes iOS and Android wallets, a browser extension, and a future hardware-wallet path.

09 What is ATQM used for?
ATQM is the native token of the Atom Quantum network.
It is used within the network infrastructure, including transactions and network fees. The public Explorer already denominates network fees and block rewards in ATQM.
ATQM is also connected to the planned staking and broader network infrastructure currently included in the roadmap.

10 Are there transaction fees?
Yes. Atom Quantum retains familiar EVM mechanics including gas and EIP-1559 fees. Network fees are denominated in ATQM.

11 Will staking be available?
Yes. Staking is part of the roadmap and is being prepared for launch. The official website currently lists staking as Locked / Open soon.
The first PQ-native staking flows are included in the Q3–Q4 2026 roadmap.

12 Will there be a DEX and cross-chain bridge?
Yes. Both the DEX and Bridge are part of the Atom Quantum roadmap and are currently listed as Open soon.
The first PQ-native DEX, bridge, and staking flows are included in the Q3–Q4 2026 roadmap.

13 Can an existing Ethereum application be migrated to Atom Quantum?
Atom Quantum is designed to maintain EVM compatibility.
According to its technical description, a Solidity contract that compiles and runs on Ethereum can use the same execution model on Atom Quantum. Familiar bytecode, opcodes, gas mechanics, and receipts remain, while the main changes occur at the transaction-signing and cryptographic layers.

14 How fast is Atom Quantum?
In smoke testing, Atom Quantum demonstrated deterministic finality in under one second using a four-validator configuration.
The project explicitly notes that this is not a production benchmark. Performance with 50+ validators, real-world geographic distribution, and production-scale ML-DSA quorums still needs to be tested.

15 What is the status of the security audit?
The official website currently lists the status as “Audit in progress.”

16 Where can I view transactions and network activity?
The public Atom Quantum Explorer allows users to search by address, transaction hash, block, or token and view recent blocks and network activity statistics.
